CTIA 2007 Wire Day 1: 3 TV, Modeo Recording, Bango 2Go

Vidiator has signed a deal with 3 Scandinavia for its Xenon Mobile Multimedia Delivery Platform for 3’s mobile TV efforts. Customers will be able to view a complete list of available live TV channels, access program information on-the-fly and navigate between live channels within seconds.

Modeo will offer recording features on its US service after a deal with Penthera. The Mediacast system lets broadcasters tricklecast — or broadcast over time — files to their subscriber’s mobile devices, for storage and later playout. Mediacast currently supports the broadcast of video clips, full-length TV shows, podcasts, and MP3s. Modeo plans to use the service to offer mobile DVR capabilities so users can record and save a program to their mobile device even while watching another program. (release PDF)

Bango has launched Bango 2Go, a one-stop-shop for creating a mobile web site. It will be demonstrating the process at CTIA with companies such as Hotel Chocolate (a European chocolatier) and Basin Street Records (a New Orleans recording label) having their sites built at the Bango stall. Bango does the whole service from creation to hosting (it costs $4,995 to set up, with monthly fees as low as $1,395 for hosting) and hooks the site up with mobile search engines from Google, Yahoo and various carriers. Buongiorno is adding video to its US d2c brand Blinko. This mutation is being promoted with videos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from uClick. Other categories of video that will be offered include: cartoons, classic television comedy, extreme sports, bloopers clips, as well as featuring popular branded titles and content of current media interest.

Mozes has announced the general availability of its SMS-based campaign and promotion service and a deal with Universal Motown and Universal Republic for over 60 plus Universal artists such as Blue October, Akon, and Mya tol use the Mozes service to create mobile communities of fans. Artists will be able to communicate instatnly with fans for opportunities to win backstage passes, have first chances to hear brand new music and so on. (release)

Online list-making service provider Gubb will launch its mobile version at www.gubb.net/m on thursday. Users can make lists, collaborate with others in making lists, SMS and e-mail the lists, and access the service via text message if they don’t have a browser-enabled phone.

Platform provider Nellymoser has announced the release of version 3.0 of its ASAO Next Generation Mobile Media Platform. The update includes an enhanced mobile media and service delivery engine, integrated frameworks for rich-media, commerce, publishing, arcade, community and user generated content and adapters for a wide range of devices. Wmode has landed the contract to manage the ringback tone service of Cricket of Cricket Communications, which operates in 22 states across the US. Cricket Communications will completely outsource the content management, website and mobile storefront development, as well as all aspects of merchandizing and promotions for the new service to Wmode. Wmode will also provide billing and settlement services for all music and content purchased by Cricket customers from their flex bucket. (release)

Sprint Nextel subsidiary Boost Mobile has chosen JumpTap to provide its mobile search services. Boost now has more than 4.5 million customers mostly under 25, and conduct who conduct 188 percent more mobile searches than the average mobile subscriber. (release)

MyGADS is at CTIA… “a collection of personal information that you can set up for your family to share information…You control the GAD and you control who can look at it”. It is intended to connect people’s mobiles to their PC and those of their inner circle — people who have access to more personal information than the general public.
