It’s no secret we practically live on EV-DO around here. With the new Rev. A network, James is surfing faster than Kelly Slater in a monsoon. Don’t have Rev. A in your Sprint or Verizon coverage area yet? Maybe you want to wait for Rev. B; a faster approach that Qualcomm is touting, along with their new MSM7850 chipset. The MSM7850 has already proven speeds of 9.3 Mbps down and the company expects it to average around 4.9 Mbps, which is over twice as fast as my home DSL connection. The Rev. B chipset will be full backwards-compatible with Rev A/0 and 1xRTT; Qualcomm anticipates an infrastucture software upgrade for Rev. B on their CSM6800 cell site modems will have a software by the end of this month.(via BetaNews)
