We’ve got some more info on the Xipto endorsement service we wrote about last week, and it’s not a bad take on mobile advertising. The people signing up for the service use the interface to “maintain a playlist of brands / campaigns they are endorsing”, according to Nick Arauz, Founder and Managing Director of Xipto. Some campaigns will have only one message while others will have a series of rotating messages. The endorsers can preview the clips to ensure they are happy with it. When someone calls the endorser, they hear a short message saying “this clip was endorsed by the person you are calling” and then the advertisement. The endorsers get paid for their endorsements, which could range from entertainment products to services and political views.
Most of the deals in place for the launch are from agencies and local brands, but Xipto also supports peer-to-peer messages, so anyone can produce a message, post it into the marketplace with a small budget and get their friends to endorse the message. “This means that Xipto is great for local businesses, and even individuals (a local band, for instance) who want to leverage a small fan base,” said Nick adding that sponsors can set their own rate and budget. It’s being demo’d at CTIA.
