As tween social net Imbee gets ready to unveil its redesign next month, the Industrious Kid-owned site has revealed that one of its main backers is The Walt Disney Company, CNET reports.
As we reported earlier, Industrious Kid closed $6 million in first round funding from undisclosed investors in March.
Through its investment arm, Steamboat Ventures, Disney invested $2.5 million in Industrious Kid over the past year. By aligning itself with year-old Imbee, Disney can join the site to its other internet properties that are also aimed at tweens. Imbee’s secure network lets kids send messages, blog, share videos and become part of online communities within the site.
