Former Times Internet CEO Mahendra Swarup will be an advisor for Essar Group’s media business, reports Exchange4Media. Essar Group plans to expand its fledgling media business in a big way, and so it has roped in Swarup to advise them on the strategy. Essar has plans to get into TV, radio and online. The group’s Paprika Media, which has a licence from UK-based publishing firm Time Out, already publishes magazine Time Out Mumbai.
Swarup is also the Chief Mentor of Delhi-based Smile Interactive Technologies Group, where he has a stake. The group owns online media buying company Quasar Media and technology company Studio Smile.
