Reuters has a good summary of all the rumors flying around about a possible Google phone, although it doesn’t do a good enough job of distinguishing one rumor from another. For example, Spanish employees of Google are working on a low-cost phone to bring the internet to developing nations, which sounds completely different to the 100-person team under Andy Rubin developing a slick, Blackberry-like device. A Google spokesperson said the company had nothing to announce regarding a Google phone. There’s one comment that people who previously fixated on a possible iPhone have transferred their attention to whether “Google is developing an even lower-cost phone”… it better be cheaper than the iPhone.
