HBO’s upcoming documentary series, The Addiction Project, is getting a full set of digital touch-points ready for support: in addition to a book and outreach program, viewers will be able to experience the series through HBO On Demand, podcasts, web streams, a DVD. And, in addition to the program’s main website, individuals will be able to customize a second site if they, or a family member or friend, need particular help overcoming their respective addictions. The main site will have a variety of information and resources on getting assistance.
The initial 90-minute documentary airs on Thursday at 9 p.m. eastern. Immediately after, all 14 films in the series will be available in their entirety for free on the site — the first time the pay cable network has opened its content like this on the web. And there’s a lot of it: HBO.com/addiction currently has over 250 pages of information and, after Thursday, will have over 30 hours of video.
