O2 is conducting a trial of DVB-H mobile broadcast TV in the greater Dublin area — it will have 350 participants and run until the end of August. There are 13 TV channels in the trial, including RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Sports 1, Setanta Sports Ireland, Discovery, Cartoon Network, Sky Travel, Interactive Music and Interactive Games. The last two channels will let customers select their favourite program from an on-screen service guide, search for specific items, and set their handsets to alert them when their favourite show starts. Trial is being run with Arqiva, who partnered with O2 UK for the DVB-H trial in Oxford.
