Osaka-based Yoshimoto Kogyo has teamed up with Intel and mobile content provider Faith to launch a web-based content service for the comedians it represents, reports Variety. It’s free until June, when users will have to pay an unspecified amount for the content. The most interesting part of the story is that line that “users will be to download Yoshimoto content, including short pics of the comics it reps. They will then be able to transfer the content to their home PCs”. It may be a problem with the way the story is written, but it sounds like people will download the content to their phones and then sideload it to their PCs … normally I’d assume that was a mistake but this is Japan, so I’m not sure… Payment will use technology from Faith and there are plans to use DoCoMo’s FeliCa m-payment chips as well.
