Japanese wireless giant, KDDI has teamed up with Fujitsu to develop a new amplifier for Mobile WiMAX (802.16e-2005) basestations that is going to drastically reduce the size of the base stations, and their power requirements, thereby making Mobile WiMAX infrastructure cheaper and more affordable. More importantly, this addresses the operational expense part of the equation. A prototype can produce a 25W output in the 2.5 GHz band.
