Turner Broadcasting International has officially launched CNN Mobile, the company’s first free ad-supported mobile site it announced last month. The D2C service, which was developed in partnership with Ericsson, features SMS text alerts, a blog with contributions by correspondents, a made-for-mobile hourly video update and a searchable 14-day news archive of more than 2,000 stories.
CNN Mobile has also signed on carmaker Lexus as its first advertiser. The company is running a campaign for its Hybrid vehicle that includes banner ads and pre- and post-roll spots around the World News Now video updates. CNN Mobile is available to users in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Turner has also said it plans launch new mobile sites for the Cartoon Network and other media properties in 2007. Release
