TrustedPlaces, a London-based social networking site that focuses on reviews and recommendations for restaurants and bars around the world, closed its first round of funding with $980,000, The Guardian reported. The round was led by angel funding from Howzat Media, an investment firm specializing in internet start-ups; Hugo Burge will join the board, according to the TrustedPlaces’ company blog.
The site, currently focused on London, Paris and Manchester, was founded in September 2006, relaunched in February 2007 and now has four employees. The investment will fund the hiring of more developers, recruiting an in-house design team, and research for adding more cities to its coverage area. Release.
