TCS Gets $100,000 Grant From Qualcomm For BREW App

TCS will receive a grant of $100,000 from Qualcomm for a BREW application for providing advice to farmers, called “Educating/ Advising Farmers through Mobile”. TCS’ application development is led by Dr. Arun Pande. As the grand prize winner, TCS will also receive additional funds for implementing the proposal. This grant is one of the five that will be given by Qualcomm as a part of its Wireless Reach BREW Application Funding Program, to developers for service applications in one of five public service areas: healthcare, education, public safety, governance and the environment. Other apps to get $100,000 in funding include a system for tracking poultry sales for combating Bird Flu, a software for speech recognition and text to speech, a health assistant for those with Asthma and Diabetes.
