Indiantelevision.com has an update on the Cricket World Cup official website. The site – www.cricketworldcup.com – will be officially launched on February 26, 2007. The Star India arm Indya.com has partnered with International Cricket Council (ICC) to create and market the website. They expect the site to clock a billion page views during the world cup.
Indya had partnered with ICC for the Champions Trophy website too which had seen 230 million page views during the event. The world cup site will have applications like Matchcast (online scoreboard) and Simulator (a graphical representation of the game ball by ball), which are expected to attract cricket fans’ eyeballs.
Nikhil adds: Indya.com is also running a competition called the ‘Voice of the World Cup’. Users need to sign up with Indya.com to enter, and the winner gets a chance to join the Indya.com commentary team. I just tried it – they play a cricket clip, and allow participants to record their voice. However, I couldn’t find any terms and conditions, details on how the winner is being selected, or for that matter – if they’re allowing visitors at Indya.com to participate in a voting process.
