Aussie Bluetooth Mobile Network Aims To Encourage Content, Services Usage

The Advertiser reports on a free and ad-supported mobile application service, using Bluetooth, which runs on top of any network.
Several companies, including Cibo Espresso and UniSA, have launched the Podmo network, and it offers users connectivity and content at either very low cost or no cost at all. The motivation behind Podmo is to create a community of users, the company says, so that users can create and publish their own content, download games and navigate the streets.
Apparently, the network is ad-funded (the details are unclear) and attempts to deliver relevant advertising to users based on location, time and demographic data. The network also encourages local retailers to make their own mobile ad campaigns and plans to carry program guides for local Adelaide events and festivals.
The service is launching on Feb 21.
