Jet Airways And Hutch Launch Mobile Airline Ticketing Service

Jet Airways has launched a mobile airline-ticketing service called JetWallet, for Jet Privilege members who are also Hutch customers. JetWallet allows Jet Privilege members to book, pay (via credit card) and generate e-tickets on the phone. Apparently, “subject to terms and conditions”, customers can also view change, cancel and refund the e-tickets booked through JetWallet. E-Tickets are emailed to a user specified email addresses, and a copy of the details is SMSed. There’s also an option of a web check-in. The application can be used for domestic flights only. The service is application based, and has been developed by Sam Pitroda’s C-Sam Inc. [release]
I think by offering it to only Hutch customers who are Jet Privilege members, they’re skimming the market and limiting the userbase; hence also limiting the risk. They would probably to increase the userbase gradually, and that’s where the security risk will come in. The advantage is that they would be able to track each and every mobile number and its activity, so the risk is lesser than online. Should be interesting to see once one of the travel portals launches an application, giving access to booking flights from more than one airline.
