AdaptiveBlue has received first round financing from Union Square Investors for its Firefox browser plug-in. The amount was not revealed. On its company blog, AdaptiveBlue bills its Firefox plug-in, BlueOrganizer, as a “smart browser companion” that lets users search items according to semantics and context, the company explained on its blog. The Livingston, NJ-based company promises users can more easily identify books, movies, wine, restaurants, recipes, people and other search items more easily with its plug-in. The company has spent $100,000 on BlueOrganizer and AdaptiveBlue says it plans to use the new capital for additional hires.
So far, 340,000 people have downloaded BlueOrganizer, according to VentureBeat.
