NEA To Invest $200 Million In India

Too much VC money chasing too few deals? You can say that again…New Enterprise Associates has announced that they’ve allocated up to $200 million for investing in “telecom, media, alternative energy, technology-enabled services and infrastructure” companies in India. Early stage investments will be via NEA-IndoUS Ventures, with NEA has a 20 percent stake in, while for mid to late-stage investments NEA will take the direct investment route. The India effort for is being led by NEA (India) Vice President Ben Mathias. NEA has around $8.5 billion in capital, across 13 funds. As per the press release, NEA has invested in over 550 companies, of which more than 155 have gone public, and over 220 have been acquired. Red Herring adds that NEA is looking for a venture partner in India.
