Nielsen Internet Ratings Show Nintendo Interest Piqued

One sure-fire gauge of your current popularity is to check your web traffic. The more you get your name out there, the more people are going to start looking you up. With that said, Nintendo must be feeling pretty good right now considering their 82% increase in traffic from over a year ago.

According to Gamasutra, the Nielsen/NetRatings market research firm has released a report that shows Nintendo clearly beating out Microsoft’s XBox and Sony’s Playstation sites. Nintendo, in January, had 2.08 million unique hits while Sony had 1.55 million and Microsoft’s XBox site hit 1.5 million. To make things even more interesting, Nintendo also had the highest percentage increase of any hardware manufacturer on the web, but finished seventh in relation to overall hits.

While this doesn’t directly translate into cold, hard cash, it shows that Nintendo has done quite a bit to get themselves back into the minds of the consumers. Now, if they can just put out some more interesting games for the Wii.
