Limited Spectrum Could See Rising Mobile TV Costs

Limited spectrum means proponents of mobile TV are looking at higher frequencies which are more expensive, reports Reuters. “On Thursday DVB Project said at a news conference at the 3GSM mobile communications trade show it had approved the technical specifications for S-band, opening an available high spectrum across Europe for mobile television broadcasts.” Meanwhile, the European Commission is looking at using the L-Band for the service, but that would cost 2-3 times more than the UHF service.
