The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has plans to set up e-ticketing kiosks, and has signed an MOU with ICICI Bank for a payment gateway reports the Economic Times. In all, the IRCTC plans to set up point of sale vending machines in 125 cities across India, and have so far signed up BPCL and Sify; last we heard, they were also in talks with IndiaPost. Are they also talking to ICICI for sale of tickets at ATMs or branches? What about online distribution, in collaboration with travel portals? That’s worked for the airlines…
