Mobile ESPN Finalizes Operator Tie-Ups For World Cup

Mobile ESPN has finalized deals with Hutch, Airtel, MTNL and BSNL for a launch around the Cricket World Cup, reports Mint (subscription required). They’re planning to allow users to hear live commentary (Rs.6 per minute), watch video clips and participate in programmes via the mobile. For voice, commentary is going to be in Hindi and English. Deals with Tata Indicom and Reliance are also in the offing, according to ESPN’s New Media Head Sricharan Iyengar
Last year, Airtel and Reliance had launched subscription packs. World Cup coverage might attract premium pricing, but wont the ICC expect its pound of flesh?
