Electronic Arts has been known to buy things on occasion. It’s what they do. So it should come as no big surprise that they’ve acquired another company, and this one is all about Karaoke. Could EA be gearing up to cash in on the American Idol craze or do they have something else up their sleeves? Either way, the empire has claimed another victim.
SingShot is an online karaoke community that allows its members to record versions of their favorite songs and share them with others. EA has commented that it made the purchase in order to accelerate “efforts in community-building and promoting user-generated content through a unique music platform.” This, of course, could go many different directions for EA, but with the recent talks with Apple about iPhone game production, it wouldn’t surprise us to see something like this pop up on Apples new platform.
