These aren’t brand-spankin’ new models, but since we’re expecting heavy snow here this week, I thought to mention eton’s American Red Cross branded radios. For the folks that currently have more than 100-inches of snow in upstate New York: sorry I didn’t post this sooner.
These four radios have varying functions, but one that they all share is the power crank: turn the crank for around 90 seconds and you’ve got an hour of power. Depending on the model, you can listen to AM. FM, Shortwave, TV, and NOAA weather alerts. Each model also sports an LED flashlight and emergency siren plus a cellular phone charger jack. I checked one of the manuals on that last feature but couldn’t really tell how much talk time you can generate while building your muscles on the crank. Regardless, at MSRPs of $50 to $60, these are probably worth having in the home; each purchase also generates a small donation to the American Red Cross.
