Research in Motion outed their press release on the new Blackberry 8800 and even have a website devoted to the new device. They don’t have time to waste on shooting the info because the RIM folks tell us that the 8800 will show up for AT&T customers on February 21st!
The BlackBerry 8800 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS phone with EDGE support (sorry HSDPA lovers) along with integrated GPS, QVGA display with light sensor, Voice Activated Dialing, Bluetooth 2.0 and micro-SD slot.
RIM indicates this is the thinnest BlackBerry yet and based on the 360-degree views I’ve seen, it appears to be a well-designed device. EDGE is plenty fine for e-mail, which is really what the target audience (execs and shirts) use their connectivity for, but I’d still like to see a little 3G in the ‘berry myself.
If you liked the trackball in the BlackBerry Pearl, you’ll like it just as much in the 8800 since that carries over. Some folks have complained about the trackball, so if you’re not a fan, you might have to pass on this one.
