The defunct cable TV channel Trio is getting a second life online as getTrio.com, its parent NBC Universal said Monday. Known in its first incarnation as an entertainment channel for those with quirky, yet highbrow tastes, the new Trio site translates that sensibility into a pop culture newsletter/search engine. Trio ceased broadcasting in January 2006. As part of its online upgrade, Trio the site, which will operate under the auspices of NBCU cable sibling Bravo, will offer tips on what to do and what buy, all from a global focus. It will also save users’ favorite topics and make the information available to them on mobile phones as well. Additionally, the old channel’s companion websites, OUTzoneTV.com and BrilliantButCancelled.com, will make available some of the programming that appeared on the channel, as well as offering original content. — In terms of its search functions, Jason Klarman, Bravo
