Ronnie Screwvala, CEO of UTV Software, in an interview with Business Standard says that he expects the new media business to mature in 2-3 quarters, and contribute as much as TV content production, film production and distribution and broadcasting in 2-3 years years time. Margins in new media tend to be exponential because of the composition of their businesses. On revenues:
“…outside of our animation business of about Rs 15-20 crore, we have already acquired two companies Ignition and Indiagames) which scale Rs 95-100 crore in revenues, and we are aiming to take it to Rs 250 crore each in the next two to three quarters. This is achievable easily because only our PlayStation 3 game, which is coming out in the next year should have revenues in excess of Rs 100 crore a year. We have other large clients like Microsoft, Nintendo and Atari in our kitty.”
