Macs get Sprint’s EX720 EV-DO Express Card

Merlin_m720Deciding that Windows users should have all of the connected fun, Sprint will offer the Novatel EX720 Express Card EV-DO modem for Mac users along with the corresponding OS X drivers. The smaller-than-a-PC Card modem (photo credit: Crunchgear) offers EV-DO Rev. A speeds at up to 1.4 Mbps down and near 500 kbps on the upload side. There’s some mention of GPS software as well, but we may need to wait until later this month for details: that’s the expected availability time-frame if you fork over $179 with a two-year agreement.

Just to keep the playing field even, if your Windows machine has an Express Card slot, there will be Windows drivers available as well.

The Ex720 Works very well on the Mac. I’ve sold several of these cards for apple users and they love them.

Kevin, crunchgear’s pic is not of the EX720 expresscard. that pic is of the pcmcia M720, sold as the Merlin S720 on sprint.

This article has a crappy cellphone camera shot of the forthcoming EX720:

I’d be pleasantly surprised if Sprint ships *any* Mac drivers or software for the EX720, since they haven’t done so for anything they currently sell.
