BT, the telco in UK in the process of launching its IPTV service BT Vision, has appointed Michael Barry, the head of MTV UK and Ireland, as its director of programming. Barry was the managing director of MTV UK & Ireland’s nine channels including VH1, TMF and flagship MTV and in the new job will be responsible for running BT Vision’s programming strategy, content offering, broadcast operations and on-air presentation.
Last month, BT Vision hired Sky Sports head of marketing Paul Ridsdale to run marketing and sponsorship across the IPTV service’s sports programming. Also, Fourteen-year MTV Networks Europe veteran Simon Guild, president and CEO, also made the decision to leave the company last month, claiming it was a “logical time to move on to new challenges.” And then, MTV lost its new media head Angel Gambino, who also left a few weeks ago.
