Some significant deals in the mobile content space in the last couple of days, from MocoNews.net:
— Turner Broadcasting has done a wide ranging deal with Ericsson to develop new mobile content service including CNN International, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Turner will provide the content and Ericsson will supply the technology. The first of these jointly developed services, a new CNN Mobile service, will launch to users in the EMEA region and make its debut on February 12 at 3GSM. The services will be rolled out to further territories, and both Turner and Ericsson have committed to further product launches throughout 2007. More details here.
— Amp’d Mobile has done another major original production deal: it has signed up comedian Jack Black and “24” executive producer Howard Gordon to produce two video series for its subscribers. This follows an Amp’d original show that was picked up by Comedy Central late last year. On the latest shows, Black and his producing partners will develop a series of comedy shorts for Amp’d. Meanwhile, TV production company Icebox, co-founded by Gordon, plans to develop an investigative news series that examines mysterious sightings from around the world. More details here.
— We mentioned lat year about Sundance’s effort to kickstart mobile movie sector…it tied up with GSM Association last year to launch the “Sundance Film Festival: Global Short Film Project”. IHT has some details on the project which finally launches the resulting movies next week at 3GSM in Barcelona. The short films, including one created by the husband-and-wife team that directed “Little Miss Sunshine,” will each be about five minutes long. More details here.
