Start-up Zink has drawn some press with its new product — a tiny portable printer that can hook up to a mobile phone and doesn’t use ink. As Cnet writes, Zink’s system uses specialized paper (a polymer) with three crystalline layers which are clear until heated, when they combine to produce an image. There are two initial devices, a $99 standalone printer and a $199 camera printer, both of which produce 2×3 inch photographs. From the sound of it the money comes from the paper, which will cost around $19.95 for a pack of 100 sheets.
