France Telecom (FT) has said its 2006 profit fell as much as 30 percent, blaming problems in its Polish fixed-telephony business and flat revenues for mobile in markets such as the U.K. The telco wrote down the value of its units in the U.K. and Poland by 2.7 billion euros ($3.5 billion). It reported that sales in 2006 beat those in 2005 by 1.2 percent, rising from 51.1 billion euros (US$ 66.5 billion) to 51.7 billion euros (US$ 67.3 billion). Net income fell to between 4 billion euros (US$ 5.2 billion) and 4.2 billion euros (US$ 5.4 billion) from 5.71 billion euros (US$ 7.4 billion) a year earlier.
