Napster Chief Executive Chris Gorog is convinced that mobile phones will be the saviour of the subscription music industry, according to Reuters. While subscription services (specifically Napster, I guess) are effectively blocked from the portable music market by the dominance of iTunes, it has more of a scope with mobile phones…Nokia and Motorola have signed up for the PlayForSure DRM system that Napster uses, while other phones just play MP3 files straight. “Napster will be going from an available market place … of basically zero to ubiquity.”
