Earnings: Vivendi's Q4 Up on TV and Games; UMG's Digital Revs Up 84 Percent in 2006

Vivendi, owner of the world’s largest music company, reported Q4 sales rose 1.2 percent as higher video-game and pay-TV revenue more than made up for declines in the mobile-phone and music units. Sales rose to 5.55 billion euros ($7.2 billion) from 5.48 billion euros a year earlier.
Sales in Vivendi Games jumped 33 percent to 326 million euros, beating estimates for a 13 percent gain. Sales at SFR, Vivendi’s largest division by revenue, slipped 1.4 percent to 2.18 billion euros. Universal Music Group revenue dropped 1.5 percent to 1.66 billion euros, hurt by the dollar’s drop against the euro.
For UMG, for the full year 2006, digital sales were $621 million with strong growth in all markets and sectors. Digital revenues were up 84 percent versus last year and represented 9.6 percent of total ($6.5 billion) revenues.
