We’ve written earlier about a mobile paper application from Cellnext being piloted in India. Now Pressmart and IMI Mobile have launched something similar a WAP portal with content from 9 Indian newspapers: The Hindustan Times (Mumbai and Delhi editions), The Deccan Chronicle (Hyderabad and Chennai editions), DNA, Indian Express, Asian Age, The Financial Express, The New Indian Express, The Telegraph and the Pioneer. The mPaper offers archives, search and the option to save news reports. [via release]
It’s a 50:50 partnership between Pressmart and IMI Mobile, who are planning more newspaper related products for the mobile. The cost of subscription is around $0.70 for one paper a month, and around $1.14 for two or more newspapers. 9 operators will offer the mPaper to subscribers. Advertisements will be launched in two to three months. I’m just wondering about why I should subscribe to the mPaper instead of accessing news sites directly via GPRS.
