Digicel Jamaica has launched a mobile TV service over its GPRS network, according to The Jamaica Observer. Digicel has partnered with Jamaican national station CVM TV and music channel Hype TV to offer “around-the-clock live local programming, including well-loved soap operas, news bulletins, music videos and sports programmes”. This is a streaming service, although the frame rate isn’t going to be crash hot. The company plans to launch made-for-mobile channels this year and extend the service to the other 22 markets in which it serves (mostly Caribbean, with some Central American countries).
