Vodafone Plans User-Gen Video Service

At Cebit Vodafone is planning to introduce a service which will let people upload and share videos, and receive money based on how many times the videos are downloaded reports InfoWorld. The videos will be uploaded via MMS or WAP, and viewed on mobile phone or computer. Vodafone will also offer a search function for the video. Hutchison’s 3 has been offering this for a while, of course. Over at MobHappy Carlo argues that if the operators banded together to make the user-gen video services available to all their customers they could beat YouTube.
Other services Vodafone plans to launch at Cebit are a voting service to let users cast votes, participate in games or request information from cooking shows streamed live via its portal, as well as a new service which will let users build their own Flash-based mobile web site.
