The Russian mobile entertainment market grew 25 percent in 2006 to hit $408 million, according to iKS-Consulting in Kommersant, but the predictions had been for $470 million. The growth this year is expected to be lower, growing 21 percent to $494 million. The main culprit is cheaper downloads via the internet — which indicates Russians aren’t willing to pay for the content and the same price again to download it. “Margarita Zobnina from iKS-Consulting estimates that Russians paid $116 million for music downloads last year. At the say time, they download $120 million-worth music from the Internet, which is the money that content providers may have earned.” The big growth was in the media integration content market, which grew 37 percent to hit $77.5 million.
