Chinese Firm CDC To Invest $100 Million in 3G Content Companies

CDC, a Beijing-based software maker and operator of the China.com site, plans to invest $100 million in providers of content for 3G, the company said. Its CDC Mobile business unit will initially focus the investment in China, Japan and Korea, and will “seek to invest in and partner with innovative content providers that are leveraging the rollout of 3G infrastructure to develop new content distribution channels, mobile communities, and offer rich content that previously was not possible in a 2G world,” whatever that means.
