Creative Commons To Kick Off Its India Chapter On Jan 26

Creative Commons, a non-profit organisation that facilitates the sharing of copyrighted content, is setting up shop in India, says an IANS report. The Indian chapter, managed by the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, will kick off on January 26.
Creative Commons provides licences such as the right to distribute the copyrighted work on file sharing networks except otherwise noted.
Creative Commons India project head is Shishir K. Jha, an assistant professor at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. To start with, Creative Commons plans to focus on the centres of higher education like the seven IITs, regional technology institutes, management institutions and so on.
