DigitMag has a piece on a handset designed by LG and fashion label Prada which looks a lot like the iPhone. As well as the exterior Prada had input on the user interface including the touchscreen, ringtones and preloaded content — although details of the content haven’t been released. It isn’t planned for sale in the US, but will be sold in Europe at the end of February for around 600 euros (US$775), which is more that the iPhone…of course, Prada isn’t trying to capture one percent of the global handset market.
WSJ: The Prada Phone is slightly smaller than the Apple product and slightly thicker, at 12 millimeters versus 11.6 millimeters for the iPhone. The Prada Phone has a slot for digital memory cards, a feature missing in the iPhone. In the U.S., where cellphone carriers largely control the sale of phones, LG is still negotiating to offer the Prada model.
More details on the phone in this release.
