Greener World Media Receives More Green For Relaunch

Greener World Media, a publisher of websites and newsletters devoted to corporate sustainability and other eco-friendly policies, is going from non-profit to for-profit. The six-year-old Oakland-based company is comprised of three websites (Greenbiz.com, Greenerbuildings.com and Climatebiz.com) and three e-newsletters. To fund the relaunch, the company has raised $250,000 over the past two months from seven angel investors and hopes to raise as much as another $250,000 in this round. The investors include Lisa Gansky, founder of Kodak’s online photo service Ofoto; Sarah Fay, president of digital marketing network Isobar; and New York sustainability strategy firm GreenOrder. Also as part of the growth plan, Joel Makower, Greener World Media’s founder and executive editor, has brought on new partner Peter May, who left his position as SVP of Prism Media last month. As Folio reported, May started his new post last week. In terms of additional funding, Makower told paidContent.org, “We’re continuing to raise capital — as much as another $250,000 for this round — and [we] have several interested parties.”
