And You Thought This Wasn't A Game?

People at Zapak have been having fun at everyone’s expense, it seems. They created an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) at idiedhere.com, as a blog by 3 people from Mumbai making a mobile phone documentary in a house that witnessed five suicides. Zapak claims to have popularized the blog through community sites like Orkut and Hi5 (I didn’t come across anything). People logged on, commented, advised the protagonists on what to do and attempted to solve puzzles. I don’t buy the claim that people took this to be a real life incident – it’s just too contrived to be mistaken for a real life incident, with quizzes and puzzles. Not quite lonelygirl15…though, from the comments, it seems some people were fooled by it. Ah, to be naive!
ARG’s seem to be in vogue: NASSCOM has a ‘Kreeda Word Quest‘ at its Animation & Gaming India 2007 event. Is anyone planning an Indian version of Lonelygirl15?
Oh and, bye-the-bye, my name isn’t Nikhil and all the news you read here is fabricated.
