Reliance World has announced the launch of the GameBox National Championship, the finals for which will be conducted at SKOAR! 2007 Expo at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi between the 26th and 28th of January. The competition will be conducted at four levels, the first of which will be at Reliance World outlets from Jan 13th to 17th. Apparently, the total prize money is Rs.10 lakh, and there is no registration fee. The games include Counter-Strike, Half Life 2: Death Match, NFS: Underground and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. [More details here. News via DNA].
The finalists will get to meet Fnatic – (apparently) the world’s top Counter-Strike team. The Counter-Strike winners will get to play the game against Fnatic. I’m probably going to attend SKOAR! 2007 to get a ground level perspective on the gaming scene in India.
