MakeMyTrip.com Seeks PR Firms; Those Who Can Straddle Both "Old" And "New" Media Need Apply

Here is a public notice by MakeMyTrip.com for a PR agency. The leading online travel company issued a statement seeking a PR agency “that has a global proposition and can deliver unique PR campaigns”.
Sachin Bhatia, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, MakeMyTrip.com, said, “…we are now embarking on an ambitious growth plan for 2007-2008. From being the number one online travel company, MakeMyTrip now aims to become the largest travel company in India both offline and online. In this background, we are looking at a full-service PR agency that has a global proposition and can deliver unique PR campaigns.”
The statement further said that the agency should have efficient production facilities and also “an appropriate mix of both ‘old’ and ‘new’ forms of media.”
This is an unprecedented way of seeking bids from business partners. I am sure this can pay off since leading PR agencies may bid for the account.
MakeMyTrip had recently closed $13 million in second round VC funding recently, and am sure they have a decent budget to reposition themselves as a full-service travel agency.
