Day two of the CES craziness has just begun:
— RealNetworks Ties Up With TiVo, Nokia: Deals with Nokia; TiVo, and Reigncom, which makes the iRiver music players, are all meant to help expand Rhapsody’s reach beyond the desktop. TiVo subscribers will be able to access Rhapsody directly from DVRs, and Nokia would make Rhapsody available on a new, Wi-Fi-enabled tablet PC. Meanwhile, iRiver will incorporate Rhapsody into new portable music players this year…it had previously used to highlight MTV’s Urge, for Rhapsody.
— Motorola has done a bunch of deals: Yahoo, music and others…nothing that grabs your attention, though. Warner Music will work closely with Moto to integrate its artists within phones. Details on Moconews.net here.
— TiVo and Comcast to test set-top DVR in spring: Hope to start testing integrated DVRs this spring, two years after they did the deal. Tivo has also tied up with RealNetworks (above) and MusicChoice to bring music services to TV.
— Sandisk adds larger screen: Unveiled the “Sansa View” at CEs, with big video screen to compete with iPod and Zune. The player, which Sandisk say will hold 33 video hours or 2,000 songs, boasts a 4-inch screen similar in size to Apple’s video iPod and comes with 8 megabytes of flash memory.
— Vongo Jumps To TV: Starz has partnered with Microsoft in a deal that will bring its Vongo movie service to both PCs with the Vista OS and the Xbox 360 game console.
– Open Media Network’s New Online Video Service Launches: OMN, now part of Verisign after Kontiki was bought last year, has launched its consumer servcie for non-proft online video at OMN.org.
