Turkey's Hurriyet Buys Classifieds Giant Trader Media East For $500 Million

Turkish publisher Hurriyet has agreed to buy online and print classified giant Trader Media East (TME) for $500 million, in a deal it says will create one of the biggest classified ad companies in the world.. Hurriyet, owned by Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holding A.S., is one of the largest conglomerates in Turkey with interests in media, energy, manufacturing and tourism.
TME has 178 print classified publications and hosts 11 websites, which it says has about 4.1 million unique monthly visitors. It employs approximately 4,900 people in eight countries: Russia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Lithuania.
