Sierra Ventures, the Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm with about $1.5 billion under management, is ramping up its India investment plans. Tim Guleri, Managing Director, Sierra Ventures, said in a statement: “We have been active in India for the last few years and we look forward to continuing an aggressive pace of investment across technology sectors.”
Sierra Ventures recently invested in travel portal MakeMyTrip.com and also Seedfund, a Mumbai-based early stage investor. Sierra’s investment in MakeMyTrip was done alongwith Helion Venture Partners and SAIF Partners who together put in $13 million in the second round.
Sierra is one of a dozen investors in Seedfund, a seed stage fund formed by Pravin Gandhi, Bharati Jacob and Mahesh Murthy. Seedfund has a focus on consumer media, internet, mobile and retail sectors.
Sierra’s interests in India include early and development stage companies in consumer internet, mobile and enterprise software and services.
