Mobile Video Set To Drive Mobile Sports, Leisure and Information Content Market

New research from Juniper Research claims mobile video, enabled on 3G networks, will drive the uptake of mobile sports, leisure and information services over the next five years, and grow the overall infotainment market from just under US$4.2 billion in 2006 to US$9.5 billion by 2011. Europe is expected to account for 40 percent of revenues over the forecast period, with the Asia-Pacific region contributing 33 percent and North America adding 18 percent to the total. Asia-Pacific is forecast to generate the most infotainment traffic over the period, but higher price levels will make Europe the largest revenue generator.
Services based around TV shows and celebrities, traffic update services, news services and community applications with user-generated content will lead the list of content set to benefit the most from enhanced video capability. Jupiter believes 2008 – with UEFA EURO 2008 and the Beijing Olympics
