This controversy may be a storm in a teacup, or could blow up in their face, if not addressed properly: In Australia, mobile TV rollout may interfere with regular TV signals, according to a report obtained by The Australian, says this story.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority, the industry regulator, has warned the govt that a “best case” result would see 1000 people affected by interference from every additional mobile TV “repeater” installed to transmit signals.
ACMA has previously said new mobile television services would cause some problems for dealing with the nation’s spectrum, but the extent of the potential interference has never been highlighted.
